The Space Shuttle Program ended on July 21, 2011, at 5:57AM eastern daylight time
with the landing of Atlantis (STS-135). This beautifully designed historic blanket not
only commemorates the thirty-year program of space shuttle flights, it also
memorializes Shuttle Columbia (STS-107); when shortly before it was scheduled to
conclude its 28th mission on February 1, 2003, the shuttle disintegrated over Texas
during re-entry into the Earth's atmosphere resulting in the deaths of all seven crew
members.
